For those of you who actually follow me and read these things, I just wanted to say that I started my own business in February. I have gone from $60 gross in my first month to $600-1200 gross per month. I am still trying to grow the business into a decent salary and I've really enjoyed working for myself. On a similar note, I've noticed that the economy has hit artists especially hard, it seems. After I've incorporated, I will be creating a subsidiary of my company that is centered around licensing agreements with artists. Basically, I'm hoping to get hi-res images and licensing permission from artists around the world. I would be in charge of printing and sales and my artists would just sit back and wait to receive checks when their sales hit a certain threshold. I'm hoping that I can give better percentages to my artists than places like RedBubble and Teefury.
This project is still in the conceptual stage, but stay tuned because it's something I really want to do! I think it would be fantastic to be able to offer unique, beautiful artworks to the public on wearable merchandise and, at the same time, be able to help starving artists get another paycheck
